Learn a language few people know. Gain opportunities few people have.

Expand your language repertoire and learn a new language.  Whether you are a student, professional, or a world traveler, we encourage you to study a language with us.  Participants who complete at least 10 hours of tutoring or a non-credit course with us can earn a non-credit University of Arizona Critical Languages Program Certificate of Completion.

Who can study?

Non-credit classes and tutoring are available for any adult, whether or not you are a University of Arizona student.   Everyone is invited to join!  Youth (ages 13-17) tutoring is available on-line with a parent present or through a high school concurrent enrollment program (request at critlang@arizona.edu). 

Location

Tutoring and workshops may be in-person or online depending upon tutor location. 

Assessment

The Critical Languages Program offers a unique opportunity to have your language proficiency tested towards a digital microcredential or badge.  Learn about how to leverage this opportunity here.  

 

Tutoring Pricing

Basic Tutoring
  • For beginning to intermediate critical language speakers
  • General language development, specific skill focus, or for maintaining language fluency
  • Focus is individualized
  • One-on-One tutoring
  • Schedule is flexible and decided between tutor and student
  • Youth tutoring (ages 13-17 available)
$400 for 10 hours*
Small Group Language Workshops 
  • Small group workshops for 2-5 adults
  • Beginning, intermediate, and advanced proficiency language students at the same level
  • Content can be customized
$750 for 10 hours for the entire group*

*There is a $50 application fee per order

Please note that University of Arizona credit tuition and fees cannot be applied to non-credit offerings.
