Become a Language Assistant

Language Assistants are UA students who are highly proficient in a language and are trained to lead informal language discussions in the target language. As a Language Assistant, you can earn 1-4 UA credits by bringing students together at a designated time/place to converse in the target language, either as a “language table” and/or as conversation supplemental to or during a language class!

Requirements

  • High proficiency in target language
  • Complete a 10-hour asynchronous online training course
  • Be able to complete an additional 35 hours volunteering as a Language Assistant. This time includes your time planning and arranging conversation tables and coordinating with language teachers to schedule your conversation time
  • Additional credits earned (max 4 credits) are 45 hours each
