(For questions not answered here, please send email to brill@u.arizona.edu)
1. Do the products come with written materials?
Each Critical Languages Series product contains a DVD-ROM (or double CD-ROM) with a quick reference. You may print the lessons out to take notes or for classroom discussions.
2. What computers or operating systems does the Critical Languages Series run on?
The CD-ROM products have been tested on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP. For information about Macs, see Using UACALI software with MS-Windows Emulation on a Macintosh. The DVD-ROM products work with Windows 2000/XP.
3. What about site licenses or volume purchases?
We do not currently offer site licenses for the Critical Languages Series. For volume purchases, Call the University of Arizona Press at 1-800-426-3797 or orders@uapress.arizona.edu. The UA Press gives a 30% discount on purchases of 10 or more at a time.
4. Can we duplicate the products for our students?
Duplication of the products is a violation of copyright law and is illegal. Some elements of the Critical Languages Series have copy protection.
See the CLS Software License for more information.
5. Can we use the products in the classroom?
We encourage instructors to use the products in the classroom and many Universities and institutions have adopted them. We recommend treating our products as textbooks in the sense that instructors require the students to purchase the materials for a specific class and when the class is over, the student may resell their product to others. That way, students may use the product at home or in the computer lab. Students may print the lessons out to take notes or for classroom discussions.
6. What is your return policy?
The Critical Languages Series products are non-returnable unless the media is defective.
7. Is the entire Critical Languages Series available for online web delivery?
Online delivery of the entire body of courseware is planned for the near future.
8. Is the Critical Languages Series the equivalent of a college course?
Each product is meant to be the equivalent of a 1st year, 2-semester college course.
9. I am a student at the University of Arizona and I purchased a Critical Languages Series CD-ROM; are there any computer labs on campus where I can use it?
You can use it in ML 511 (headphone and microphone are supplied) or ENG 318 (bring your own).
